When we took our stand against furloughs in April, we made a commitment to find alternatives to reducing the budget and as many of you have heard, we have made excellent progress. After several weeks of discussions with Labor, management has moved their threat of furloughs into next year. In the meantime, we will continue to present alternatives to eliminate the threat of furloughs. There are no discussions about Layoffs, COLA’s, or bonuses.
Here is how we eliminated furloughs through January 17, 2021:
- Employees will take an unpaid day on November 3, 2020 and an unpaid day on April 2, 2021, except in operations where minimum staffing levels must be maintained, employees will be paid for hours worked.
- Employees will receive a (4th) 8-hour floating to be used by June 30, 2021.
- The Excess Sick Leave Cash Payout due January 2021 will be deferred to January 2022 and paid at the current wage when the payout is made.
